It’s annoying lately playing with my jave. As far as I can notice my jave’s trackball is not responsive anymore. For two days, I only use my jave to chat because I can’t navigate smoothly one after another menu. Today, I bring my jave to Indosat’s BB Service. I met Mr. Ari who took care of my jave. He said that I only have to wait. After 1 hour of doing nothing except breathing (borriiingg you know….), he came out and brought my jave. He told me that what he could do at the moment was cleaning up the trackball and its trackpad.

Hmmm, I asked him whether the action of cleaning is not enough. Maybe there’s some part changes, does Indosat have the required parts? He simply told me NO. If there’s some part changes, Indosat’ll deliver it to RIM through RIM Authorized Service Center located on Sunter. How long does it take? This is the nice thing: 1,5 months. Just to replace trackball needs 1,5 months? He explained further. Nowadays, there’s no local BB repairman that’s certified by RIM. So, the unit must be sent to RIM and it usually takes 1-2 months.

From this information, I got 2 points:
1. Our regulator which allows RIM to distribute Blackberry if RIM has at least 1 service center is totally unsupportive to customer needs. Actually whay I want as a customer is a fast, reliable, and low budget repair. But, the fact is the service center’s purpose is to gather broken units and deliver them to RIM HQ. Not a REAL SC! RIM built it only for fulfilling basic reqs from regulator (administratively). So sad….
2. I realize if RIM after sales service is like this, it makes no difference between buying from provider and from local distributor (which is lower in price). Buying Provider Handheld is only misleading us to something that you can get by buying a cheaper one at distributor. I mean, just imagine if your unit is broken. Both will be brought to that “fake” SC and you’ve to wait 1-2 months. The same right? Maybe if we buy from a local distributor, our problem can be fixed quickly because it has the resources although they’re not certified yet.

Choose what you like, this’ just my opinion and I’m just playing my role as customer

Still related to your computer beep code, now I want to share the BIOS beep codes based on your motherboard’s manufacturer. I’ll discuss American Megatrends (AMI) first.

Also called AMIBIOS, there are several beep codes which give general information for IT Troubleshooter or IT Support. Here are the list

1 Beep: A single beep from an AMI based BIOS means there has been a memory refresh timer error. The solution is often to replace the RAM in the computer.

2 Beeps: Two beeps means there has been a parity error in base memory. This is an issue with the first 64KB block of memory in your RAM. The solution is usually to replace the memory.

3 Beeps: Three beeps means there has been a base memory read/write test error. Replacing the RAM usually solves this AMI beep code.

4 Beeps: Four beeps means that the motherboard timer is not working properly. A hardware failure with an expansion card or the motherboard itself could be the cause of this beep code.

5 Beeps: Five beeps means there has been a processor error. A damaged expansion card, the CPU, or the motherboard could be prompting this AMI beep code.

6 Beeps: Six beeps means that there has been an 8042 Gate A20 test error. This beep code is usually caused by an expansion card that has failed or the motherboard that is no longer working.

7 Beeps: Seven beeps indicates a general exception error. This AMI beep code could be caused by an expansion card problem, a motherboard hardware issue, or a damaged CPU. Replacing the faulty hardware usually fixes the cause of this beep code.

8 Beeps: Eight beeps means that there has been an error with the display memory. This beep code is usually caused by a faulty video card. Replacing the video card usually clears this up.

9 Beeps: Nine beeps means that there has been an AMIBIOS ROM checksum error. Literally, this would indicate an issue with the BIOS chip on the motherboard. However, since replacing a BIOS chip is sometimes impossible, this AMI BIOS issue is usually corrected by replacing the motherboard.

10 Beeps: Ten beeps means that there has been a CMOS shutdown register read/write error. This beep code is usually caused by a hardware issue with the AMI BIOS chip. A motherboard replacement will usually solve this problem, although it could be caused by a damaged expansion card in rare situations.

11 Beeps: Eleven beeps means that the cache memory test has failed. Some piece of failing hardware is usually to blame for this AMI BIOS beep code.

That’s what I can share for now, tomorrow I’ll let you know the info for other manufacturers.

The first thing I want to share with you about my experience using a blackberry is how to make custom blackberry themes. I navigate to blackberry official website and found Plazmic. Here’s some description of Plazmic.

The Plazmic Content Developer’s Kit 4.1 for BlackBerry is now available to download. The Plazmic CDK for BlackBerry is a suite of tools which allows content developers to create interactive and colorful media for BlackBerry wireless devices. The most interesting part of the new CDK is the Theme Builder compenent, which allows users to customize various aspects of the BlackBerry user interface. Things like home screen icons, wallpaper and font, text font and background, menu font and backgrounds idle screen can all be changed.

To learn more about Plazmic, visit:

http://www.plazmic.com/en/index.shtml

Try it first and hopefully I can give you another tutorial how to make a theme with Plazmic. So, stay tunes….

There will be the setting for port config and port number. You should see which port was running by doing some alt+tab procedure (require admin paassword) and then try the port to communicate with the LIS computer.

The communication type:
Pentra DF120 is using ASTM as its protocol, so to extract the data, you should send an <ENQ> tag and replied by <ACK> for the rest of information and ended by <EOT>. I’m using HT to get the data and it seems to have some pattern of Pentra400. Let see how can I undergo this one….

Today, officially Indonesia has blocked Rapidshare and Youtube webs. Some pros and contras were sounded by all Indonesian IT practicians. Not to discuss that point, I just want to introduce some tricky way to enable (at least to make it visible to you) that blocked webs. So far, I learn about 2 (two) things to do it. Let me explain it.

First, use translate utility supported by google. You can see it here. Then you just easily type that blocked URL and select ANY (could be Spanish, Chinese, etc) to English. Simply click on Translate. There you go!

Second one is to use some method called redirection. This is used to hide your presence to a web you discover. You can use these 2 (two) sites I and Will (The Master lol) found on Anonymouse and Hide-X. Write your web to redirect, wait for about 5 seconds when it creates a redirection path, and viola… You get in to it. <I dont’ know how long it works since there are some possibilities that these redirection pages is being blocked too.. Just imagine if they blocked GOOGLE…-.-a>

Happy surfing. Remember, the web is not a criminal… The people who abuse it are criminals.

Just now, I accidentally deleted my Recycle Bin icon on my Vista desktop. It happens so fast when I right-clicked the icon and attempted to empty my recycle bin. I didn’t see it clearly anymore. I just saw the word “Delete” (though it should be “Empty Recycle Bin” to do what it must be done.) and I clicked it. And actually it prompted me about something but I didn’t even notice it to click ‘Yes’.

From that point, I realize that I have delete the icon. It’s easy to show it again (don’t tell me you don’t have that competence..^^). But one thing for sure, the “Delete” is annoying.

To make sure that it doesn’t happen to me anymore, I created this registry entry to change the “Delete” with “Search…”, check it out.

Oh yeah, I made a registry entry to undo your changes. Hereby, I attach those files. Enjoy

At last I can have my time to write it to all of you how to manage the Posiflex CR4000 Type Cash Drawer so it can automatically open when I end my transaction. The fact is that CR4000-variant accept some code (called ESCAPE Command) from printer to fullfil its function based on needs. You’ll see some documentation here. To kick-out the drawer, You have to send some string (comes in ASCII) to your printer and just connect the cash drawer to your printer with its 6 pins RJ-11 connector. Automatically the printer will send the string that has an ESCAPE prefix (ASCII 27) to the RJ connection.

I use this VB.NET 2005 code to do the task:

‘trigger string to open CD based on ESCAPE COMMAND
Dim drawer As String = Chr(27) & “p” & Chr(0) & Chr(20) & Chr(20)
RawPrinterHelper.SendStringToPrinter(pd.PrinterSettings.PrinterName, drawer)

Thanx to my friend, Oyong-sama, that provide the function to write string to printer^^V.

Enjoy…

Flashing My N70 Standard

Actually I don’t have any problem with my N70 phone, but I just want to upgrade my firmware to N70 Music Edition’s firmware. I got a lot of programs to do this flashing procedure, but I found that Phoenix software is the best flashing I ever used.

First, let me explain some terms related to this subject:
You must know that this flashing procedure will DELETE all your data in your phone memory. So, before doing this, you must backup your data by using any backup software like Nokia PC Suite or using the one I used, ProBackUp(probackupstf2.sis) ~ You can get it here

You will need this software
a. Nokia Diego 3.07
b. Phoenix 2006 + Installation Dongle Crack + Run-time Dongle Crack

You have to delete all Nokia-related software (If U use NPC Suite to backup your data, then you must copy your backup image first to a safe location^^)

Clean out all Nokia related entries in your registry.

Install Nokia Diego, that’s done by double-clicking the file Nokia Diego 3.07 Sp2.msi.

Now on with the tricky part…. We will now install Phoenix, and this takes some tricks and you need to be a bit careful about what you’re doing, otherwise you won’t succeed.
a. Start the Phoenix installation by double-clicking the phoenix service installer file.
b. After a while you will get an error dialog box telling you that installation can’t continue without a dongle.
c. Do not click any of the buttons in that dialog yet!
d. Now, start the installation dongle crack by double-clicking the file.
e. Just start it, do not click that “Install” button yet!
f. Here comes the part that needs some special attention. To explain it; the crack consists of a couple off dll files that makes Phoenix believe that there is a dongle attached. The installer has the original files locked at this point, so they cannot be replaced. This is what makes this step a little tricky. When the “Try again” button in the installer is clicked, the files are released, and can be replaced before the dongle test is made again.
g. Check the crack installer window so that the “Destination folder” really points to your Windows’ System32 directory. If it doesn’t, edit the line in the window. (If you don’t know what and where that is, you should definitely not even try to install this piece of software since you won’t have the competence to use it anyway.)
h. Click the Phoenix installer’s “Try again” button.
i. Within 1-2 seconds, click the crack installer’s “Install” button.
j. If the installation did not continue, and you get the “Dongle not found” dialog box popping up again, then you were not quick enough in step 6.f, or you didn’t get the “Destination folder” right.. So, you will have to go back to step 6.f.

At some point, the installer component root.exe would like to use your network connection. I haven’t seen any problems with that, and frankly I don’t know what it really wants to check. Anyway, if you have your Windows Firewall active, it will confirm U. I just allowed it, I haven’t even tried denying it to see if it makes any difference.

You must reboot at this point, do not wait, and do absolutely not try to start any of the Nokia applications! The installation continues after reboot.

After the reboot, all the Phoenix DLL files will be registered with your system before your normal desktop comes up, it take a little while.

During the DLL registration, the installer will complain twice that it can’t find the DESkey (that’s the dongle code). Just click “OK” in these two boxes, and everything will be fine..

When this is ready, your normal desktop should show up. Do not try to start Phoenix yet!

Now it’s time to install the Phoenix run-time crack, this must be done to be able to start the application. Double-click the Nokia Phoenix 2006 – Run-time dongle-crack.exe file. Check that the “Destination folder” is pointing to the correct location, if not, correct the path. Then press the “Install” button.

Installation done!

Double-click the Phoenix icon on your desktop to start the application. You should now be presented with a login box, press “Maintain” to add a user.

You’re done installing Phoenix software as your flashing software. Ooops, we don’t finished here. Now, U must find your latest firmware package like mine here. Install your new firmware.

Then, U just plug your phone using DKU-2 without your external memory and SIM card in it, let your computer search and install your phone driver.

Start phoenix, Select File/Manage Connections choose USB, Select File/Scan Product, Operating Mode: Local, Flashing/SW update, point to your new firmware.

Note: If you have a ‘dead phone’, just checked the ‘Dead Phone’ checkbox

Start! Wait for ~10 minutes, and you’re done.

Hope this can help^^V.

My Windows Installer recently stopped working and I have downloaded
“WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86″ when attempting to run it, it gives me the
message “setup could not verify the integrity of the file update.inf. Make
sure the Cryptographic service is running on this computer.”

It might be caused by a bug made on Windows XP SP1. I have already attempted cryptographic service fix (xp_cryptofix) but still didn’t allows the windows installer to succeed. I tried system restore but
all I got was “system restore is not able to protect your computer. Please restart your computer, and then run system restore again” but restart yielded the same message.

Last and helpful, I use this Dial-a-fix software. Try to run this software and I hope you make it ^^.
