It's IT and it's my life

Last week (starting from Monday, 25th August 2008), I was in Saiful Anwar hospital, Malang for some works; connecting the laboratorium’s instrument to the LIS. They already have 8 instrument connected from my first trip. Here are the list:

  1. Cobas Micros 60 (2 units)
  2. Roche Hitachi 902 (1)
  3. Pentra 400 (1)
  4. Sysmex XT2000 (1)
  5. Elecsys 2010 (1)
  6. Axsym (1)
  7. Cobas 6000 (1 – not finished)

Then on my second trip, I was told to connect one more (the Miditron Junior II) which connector software already have the module to control the data flow of that instrument and to fix the connection of Cobas 6000. The fact then I was told to handle not the Mid Junior, but one more Cobas Micros 60 and one new Pentra DF120; new instrument to set.

After doing 2 days hardwork until 2 AM, I feel that the things was set up. I just need little more time to spend to finish all. That day (Wednesday), I was going to change my flight schedule from Saturday to Thursday. It was 11 AM when I asked the Sriwijaya Air customer service telling me that the flightto Jakarta that day was full. Then I asked her whether there was a free slot on Friday. They told me there were some slots. So, I get to their office ASAP; but it’s unfortunate for me that the slots have been occupied. Just byfive minutes of walking distance from the hospital to their office. Hikz….

I told my business partner this situation and thanx God that she help me to occupy the seat for Thusday’s flight. I was given the booking code and told that I have to go to their main office at Kawi Road. So, leaving my notebook receiving the file from Tedi, the connector programmer, I was going to Sriwijaya main office. Here is the best part of it.

Walking down the street, I stopped a taxi driven by some old man. I asked him to drive to Kawi Road; to the main office of SA. He knew it and he could drive me there. The person is nice. A nice conversation about Malang; the souvenir that I should have; the prostitute area in Malang (!@$!#@$@#$@); the weather; food; vacation spot; etc. After arriving at the office, I was shocked that the office was closed! What a day!! I called the SA main office in Jakarta. They said that I was right coming to Kawi Road because there was only one work office of SA in Malang. Others is only a ticket seller. Knowing that the office was closed, the sales person told me to go to the airport’s office! WHAAA….!#@$&&…… I asked him the phone number but he can’t provide me one. Hikz…. So, with all the might of the driver (hehe… kidding) and me of course, we drived to the airport and took 30 minutes to get there. I entered the office, told the CS about my ticket condition, and she only looked to her computer at the desk behind her…. turned his back of me….. wrote some text (maybe my booking number)….. then she came back the front desk…. told me that I have already confirmed that flight. (_ _ )”

Wanted to know the reason why the office closed, she explained that the office was moved. Then I asked her why the main ofifce in Jakarta didn’t know this information. She told me that the office was moved at that day! WHAT A COINCIDENCE! WHEN I NEED TO TAKE CARE MY TICKET, THE OFFICE WAS MOVED! w>.<w….

After that, I was taking the same taxi (I asked him to wait for me) heading back to the hospital. I wasted Rp. 120.000,00 for the taxi for some confirmation that usually I get just from making a phone call to the operator. The next day, I used the same taxi (again? Because he offered to pick me up and because I knew that it’s hard to find taxi from the hospital) heading to the airport. Because the SA aircraft was slipped at Jambi, my schedule was delayed. I was scheduled to have a 14.30-flight, but until 15.00 the office haven’t opened yet. Around 15.15, the office was opened, I entered, and made some confirmation and payment for my ticket extra spending for Rp. 380.000,00. AT LAST…. I could take a deep breath, relaxed, and slept (hehe….) And thanx God that I arrived in Jakarta even though the weather is wet that time.

Malang, I won’t forget you…….~~~~~

  • Installing 2115i as CDMA Modem

The day before, I was assigned to build an SMS server application using my 2115i phone as a modem.  I already set this twice, so I want to share it with you guys.

     What is needed?
    1. DKU-5 or DKU-50 cable with its driver of course.
    2. 2115i handheld
    3. nmpCDMA2000_1x driver

    Here wo go:
    1. Insert the DKU-5 or DKU-50 installation CD.
    2. After completing the instalation, plug your cable to the USB port.
    3. The system will ask you to install the cable driver, just allow any firewall blocking.
    4. Follow the instruction until you had successfully installed the driver.
    5. Go to Control Panel > Phone and Modem Options
    6. Choose Modems tab > Add….
    7. Check Don’t detect my modem…
    5. Choose Have Disk…
    6. Search the nmpCDMA2000_1x.inf file
    7. Choose the biggest port number
    8. If you want to use 3G network, just select 3G from the selection.

    That’s all folks….

Tonight, I attended a gathering held by IASA Indonesia. The concept is really comforting as we,the attendant, were served not only by delicious foods but also a great concept about EA. For the definition, just check it out here. Mr. David Forden brought us a good presentation about EA. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask whether I can take the presentation to give to my colleagues on Winning-soft. I acquaintanced with several great people there who dedicated their time to build the basic knowledge for maintaining software development process using enterprise architecture; base of IASA concept. I think I need to research more about this term of EA. Hopefully, I can manage to help this forum for its existence. I believe this is what Indonesia should have in the future of all IT-based business. I just think that it might be related to my topic before about Creative Industry. I think I’ll propose this topic on the next gathering….

    CREATIVE INDUSTRY

Today, I finally complete my study about “Creative Industry”. I realize this after I was unpurposedly directed to the page of Creative Industry on Wikipedia. There is something that caught up my interest: The fact that Software, as a creative solution can be developed extensively into creative business. Some of you guys maybe didn’t know about this. Not to blame, because this term was brand new in Indonesia (as usual, Indonesian often left behind). For simple, the target is simply to build a mentality which is able to compete not only with trading skills, speech, and opportunity. In additional, the success of information era had brought the world’s economic to extend the capability of those three (ttrading skills, speech, and opportunity). The key of this success was once believed because of the ability of some people who can manage to refine the information with his/her idea; put it together with the public and private knowledge; creating a new vision about problem which then called creativity. In Indonesia, there are several industries that already use creativity as their core business. As far as I can tell: Speakers (Motvational, Marketers, EQ, SQ, etc), Movies, Advertisement, and so on. None that I can’t tell about how fast the growth of that industry lately.

Now, I think there will be a big movement that all industries will run into this space of creativity. Fisrt must be conducted by the sevice industries which use more idea, knowledge, and creativity to create the products. It includes Information Technology Industries. How can I say this? Because the IT’s climate is needed to take a bunch of helping other industries. So I think it’s important to build the IT sector first, to extend its capabilities with creativity, to reach the segments of other industries, and to compete the world.

Here, I attach my subject of study made by myself. Hope useful.
